From Curt Henry, a member of our SW PA Support Farms and Markets community.
“Since we were talking fish a week or so ago. I was inspired by the post, so here is a little, flaky, moist, pan-cooked, local walleye blackened with my custom blackening spice made from all local spices sourced from local markets. Almost all local markets carry individual herbs and spices as well as small batch blends. Many carry products that are difficult at best, if not impossible to find at traditional grocery stores.
If you haven’t tried making your own locally-grow spice blends, give it a shot. Fresh or dried ingredients are readily available locally, blend recipes abound on the Internet, and all you need is a set of measuring spoons and a measuring cup. The added bonuses are that you can tweak the blend to your taste and it is less expensive than buying pre-mixed blends.”
Enjoy your Sunday Funday everyone. Eat Well. Eat Local! ???
